Bulldogs start 2026 with a straight set win
Mississippi State controlled all three sets in Mobile, closing out Georgia State 25 to 20, 25 to 21 and 25 to 22 to open the season 1 to 0. State produced 42 kills and 10 blocks. Lindsey Mangelson led the attack with 12 kills. The Bulldogs finished with seven service aces and 58 digs.
That is a useful opening statement because State did not need a deciding set to sort things out. From a coaching standpoint, the blocks and digs matter together: one makes an attacker change the shot, and the other keeps the rally alive when that shot gets through. There will be tougher stretches ahead, but this was a solid place to start.
