Bulldogs take the Showdown in four sets
Mississippi State won the first two sets, answered Wake Forest's third set response and closed the match 25 to 18 in the fourth for a 3 to 1 road victory. The win was State's third straight and moved the Bulldogs to 5 to 1. Lindsey Mangelson led the attack with 16 kills and added a season high 14 digs. Bernardita Aguilar recorded 12 kills and 15 digs for her third consecutive double double.
Winning the first two sets is good work, but finishing after the opponent answers is another test entirely. State passed that one in the fourth. The production from Aguilar and Mangelson also shows why a coach wants more than one reliable option. When two hitters contribute on both sides of the rally, there is less pressure for every good play to come from the same person.
