Bulldogs sweep Memphis for a fifth straight win
Mississippi State set a new season high with a .357 hitting percentage and swept Memphis 25 to 7, 25 to 11, 25 to 23 to close the Carrie Yerty Classic. Bernardita Aguilar led State with 13 kills on .600 hitting. The Bulldogs served 12 aces and held Memphis to a .011 hitting percentage. Noella Obi posted six blocks as Mississippi State improved to 7 to 1.
The first two sets were comfortable, but the third required State to finish a close one. That matters more than dressing up a sweep as three identical sets. From a coaching perspective, the service pressure and blocks give the Bulldogs something repeatable to build around. The challenge now is carrying those habits into matches where the early points do not come so easily.
